Hopefully, the last Don Gato update!

Well, I just went and picked up Don Gato from the vet and he didn't need a blood transfusion and his body is bouncing back and producing red blood cells. He is now on oral antibiotics for the next 2 weeks and has to be back in a week for a check up. He definitely feels better and is demanding food. I am just glad that he is doing better because we weren't really sure he would make it. His care cost a small fortune but as my sister said, "He is worth it, I can always make more money but there is only one Don Gato!" and she is totally right.

Dr. "Kitty Titty"

Here is the Ana photo of the week. We have been so serious that we need to take a break and nothing seems to cheer me up more than my kitty, Ana. She, of course, is the cat that inspired the name of my blog, Kitty Titty, for her strange habit of nursing from my male cat, Munchkin. Whenever we get stressed out she likes to come and cuddle with you. She has been our on site therapy cat during this stressful time. Her most successful treatments are her purring and making biscuit therapies. She is also skilled in meowing pitifully for treats, dragging feather toys for you to play with her, stealing your seat and making sure that laundry straight from the dryer stays warm. Not only did she graduate from the Kitty Kat Therapy University but she also graduate from the Kitty College for the Gifted and Extremely Cute and Photogenic. She is like her Aunt because as soon as a camera is pointed in their directions they turn on the beautiful. When someone I know and love is sick or going through tough times I stop to appreciate what I have in life and the beauty around me. I have to say that I am one lucky person. Posted by Picasa

Don Gato and the heating pad!

I promised an update on Don Gato and here it is! He has received a grand total of 2 blood transfusions and is scheduled to get a third tomorrow. He has been poked and prodded, scanned by an ultrasound machine and given shots and fluids and he is getting better very slowly. Looks like he had a really bad liver infection and his body started to attack and destroy his own blood cells which is not good but we caught it in time. It looks like it will be a long recovery and we are taking it one day at a time but so far so good. Posted by Picasa

Don Gato and the E-collar!

Here is are cute little Don Gato this morning. As you can tell he has an e-collar so he won't lick his IV catheter. He spent the whole weekend in the Animal Emergency Room. He has a really low red blood cell count, so low that he need a blood transfusion. He is still pretty sick and we are going to take him the regular vet today so we can figure out why he is so sick. We hope to get some good news. Don Gato is a little pissy and he is complaining that the day spa that we took him to was horrible. The food sucked, he got poked and prodded and he never got that seaweed wrap he asked for. He is much happier at home but he is still very sick. I'll keep you update on his condition but it is pretty serious.  Posted by Picasa

School's Out!

Whew, I did it! I survived another semester! I could have done better in my classes but overall I did good. I have two weeks for a break then I start up my summer school class. Since, I have two weeks just to myself I doing all things I didn't have time to do during the school semester. For example, read my collection of romance novels. I don't know what it is but I am addict to them. My husband calls it the chic equivalent of porn but I just happen to enjoy happy endings with sex thrown in. It's totally normal, right? Besides that I get to catch up on household chores and cooking for my man. I feel kind of wifey when I cook and clean for my husband probably because I don't do it very often during the semester and he really appreciates it when I do. I am catching up with friends I haven't spoken to in a while and buying things for the house that make it look pretty. We bought my husband a new computer and he is enjoying it a lot but as far as I can tell the only difference is that the picture is less fuzzy and the box is huge. We went to Fry's Electronics and bought the parts and they put it together. It was two hours of my life and I hope that I will never hear him complain when I take him shopping. It was like nerd shopping. Once, my hubbie wandered off and the sales associates started asking me questions at the same time about DVD burners. I admit it, I ran like a girl to find my hubbie just to escape their questions because I didn't know what the hell they were talking about. The rest of the week I plan to relax, go to the vet with my sister, visit some family and go to orientation for my new school. It's amazing, even though I am on a mini vacation for two weeks I still have a lot to do. Wish me luck!

Tree All Gone!

That beautiful tree that was bent by the storm is no more. It was deemed hazardous and within an hour and half it was all gone. It probably took a decade or more to grow and one nasty storm later and some chain saw and 5 guys it's been reduced to a naked stump. I am a little bummed but I think it's better this way. We have way too many kids here that would have had fun climbing it and the next thing you know it would have fallen on one of them. Still I am a little sad, I like trees, they're pretty. Posted by Picasa

Weathering the Storm!

Check this tree out! It was beautiful and completely vertical but not anymore. One of the fun things about living in Texas is the tornadoes or almost tornadoes. Not that it's fun but it makes life here a little interesting. I woke up last night from a nap and I couldn't help but hear the loud howling of the wind. It almost sounded like a freight train which is my mental indicator that a tornado is almost upon me. My sister was sitting next me looked at me and I looked at her and I yelped, "Shit, a tornado!" I jumped out of bed and started rounding up the cats, got away from the windows and formed a plan that consisted of my sister and I jumping into the tub and pulling a mattress on top of ourselves. I gathered all of our candles and lit them and grabbed our cell phones. I sadly don't have a weather radio or any radio that runs off of batteries so I was SOL there. My husband is frantically calling from his work, checking to see if we were okay and in mid call the power goes out and so does our phone. He calls me back later on my cell and says that he and all of his coworkers are corralled in the pseudo storm shelter at work. So, my sister and I are in the dark, my cats are gathered in her bathroom and my bathroom was free our plan. No air means, it got stuffy fast and we opened the door and admired the fury that was nature. The wind was blowing so hard around 70 to 80 miles an hour and the rain was almost horizontal. It was scary for about 15 minutes then the weather abated. The rain was still pouring but not as hard and the wind dropped considerably. They let my husband come home and we all munched on some cold dinner and popped open a bottle of champagne. My sister had already started drinking wine since her great plan in Miami when hurricanes hit and the power goes out was to start drinking beer and barbecuing all the meat in the fridge. So, we drank and relaxed and my sister fell asleep on the couch and we listened to the pitter patter of rain and the gentle lull of her snoring. Today we got to see the wreckage caused by the storm and it isn't pretty. Trees and tree limbs are everywhere and it's a sad sight but we weathered the storm just fine and that's all that really matters. Posted by Picasa
